What Body Lab checks automatically before every publication, what is designed to stay usable without 3D or JavaScript, and what has not yet been audited.
A site that explains the human body has to stay readable by everyone, including people who do not see images, cannot use a mouse, or have no browser able to render 3D.
This page describes what is checked, how, and above all what is not. It is published because an accessibility statement without its limits is worth nothing.
What is checked before every publication
Body Lab runs a series of automated checks before going live. They are blocking: a page that fails them is not published.
- `axe` analysis on thirteen representative pages — the six editorial templates, the home page in both languages, search, saved items, settings, the root, and the fallback of a scene without WebGL. The rules applied cover WCAG 2.0, 2.1 and 2.2, levels A and AA.
- Five browsing profiles: Chromium, Firefox, WebKit, mobile Chrome, and a "reduced motion" profile. Every check is replayed on all five.
- Focus order: the skip link comes first and genuinely targets the main content.
- Keyboard traversal: the main links can be reached without a mouse.
- Touch targets: interactive elements measure at least 44 pixels.
- Scene text alternatives: every 3D scene provides a description and a list of structures readable without the 3D.
- Information never carried by colour alone: certainty levels show a label, not just a shade.
- Video transcripts present in the document, with captions in both languages.
- Reduced motion: the rule is verified differentially, comparing the same page with and without the system preference. A check measuring only the "reduced" state would pass even if the rule had disappeared.
The most recent full run reports no serious or critical violation.
What comes from design
Some guarantees come not from a test but from an architectural decision.
Every page stays useful without JavaScript. The text, headings, sources and links are present in the served HTML. Inspection of the exported HTML verifies this page by page, without running a single script.
Every page stays useful without 3D. A missing scene leaves its poster, its text description and the list of structures it shows. A fallback video exists for every scene.
Every page stays useful without video. Transcripts carry the spoken content, and chapters are text links.
Contrasts are fixed in the theme tokens, not chosen page by page. Text colours are defined to reach at least 4.5:1 on the four paper backgrounds used, including the darkest.

The principle applied
3D, video and animation are complements. No information exists only in that form: what a scene shows, a page also says in text.
That is what makes the site usable with a screen reader, with an older browser, and on a connection that has not loaded the heavy assets.
What is not checked
This part matters most, and it is the one most statements leave out.
Limit
The limits of this statement
No full manual audit has been carried out. The checks described above are automated. A tool like `axe` detects some accessibility problems, not all of them: whether a text alternative is apt, whether a link label is clear, or whether a reading order is logical cannot be measured automatically.
No testing with real assistive technology has been done. The site has not been tried with a screen reader by someone who uses one every day.
No third-party audit has been commissioned. This page is a statement by the publisher, not a certification.
Conformance with the French RGAA is not established. The rules applied are those of WCAG 2.2 level AA; the French grid has not been worked through point by point.
3D scenes, a special case
A three-dimensional scene is hard to make accessible, and Body Lab does not claim to have managed it.
What is done: every scene provides a detailed text description, a named list of the structures it contains, a fallback video with no interaction, and a static poster. The scene loads only on explicit request, never automatically. The navigation controls are reachable by keyboard.
What is not: freely moving the camera remains a visual act, and exploring by selecting structures has no equally rich non-visual equivalent. The text describes what the scene shows; it does not replace exploring it.

If a page is inaccessible to you, the most useful information is: the address of the page, what you were trying to do, and the tool you were using. Contact details are on the legal notice page.
This statement is reviewed alongside the rest of the corpus, and its next review date appears at the foot of the page as for any other content.
